Salah satu dari pohon-pohon paling tinggi di dunia dari jenis Giant Sequoia ini memiliki ketinggian mencapai 85 meter. Umurnya diperkirakan antara 2200 hingga 2700 tahun. Pohon ini diberi nama "Jenderal Sherman", diperkirakan bukan hanya merupakan salah satu yang tertinggi , tapi juga merupakan jenis Sequoia yang terbesar dalam hal volume-nya. Di tahun 2002 pohon ini pernah terukur volumenya yang sebesar 1487 meter kubik.

Pohon Sherman ini berlokasi di Taman Nasional Sequoia di Visalia, California, dinamakan demikian diambil dari nama seorang veteran perang sipil Amerika Jendral William Tecumseh Sherman. James Wolverton seorang Letnan pada kavaleri Indiana ke-9 di bawah pimpinan Sherman menamakan pohon ini dengan nama bos-nya pada tahun 1879. Pohon ini sebenarnya sudah dianugerahi gelar sebagai yang terbesar sejak tahun 1931 dilihat dari faktor volume-nya.
Diukur dari dimensinya, pohon Sherman ini mengindikasikan menjadi semakin besar tiap tahunnya. Diameternya 1,4 meter di atas tanah adalah 7,7 meter, diameter 18 meter di atas tanah adalah 5,3 meter, diameter 55 meter di atas tanah adalah 4,3 meter, dan ketinggian dahan pertama dari atas tanah adalah sekitar 40 meter.
